its actually not the best way to get coal. only 5% of america's coal comes from MTR, they just use it because its so much cheaper. if all coal was extracted this way, the entire country would be destroyed.

Jobs? if jobs are what you want, then why not hire more men to mine it underground, and hire more men to run OSHA? It is about coal companies not paying for the waste they create and instead dumping their waste on the community before they pull out. If the coal companies had to factor in cleaning up their mess and restoring the landscape, coal would cost more than gold. The government gives them free land, allows them to dump overburden into streams, hire less help, and destroy any future use.

Does anyone here know what mountaintop removal does for the united States? - Mountaintop Removal has drastically decreased the amount of people which die yearly from coal mining. Thats huge! Mountaintop Removal is not as "evil" as people portray it to be. It is actually a good way of mining due to how many coal miner's lives are spared
