yea 9 inch nails did make it but this version means so much more. my history teacher put this video up during class and explained the whole meaning of what johny meant by this song. i wasnt alive when he was young but what i do know is he is an amazing artist. r.i.p johny.

Hmmm....Nine Inch Nails original was called "hurt", off of a remix album. This is a good cover though. I like the NIN version better though. Just more of my music. But I love this song, ass well as the NIN version.

I love this song, but I must say the original Nine Inch Nails version is far better. This version lacks the bleak hopelessness of the original. The way Cash sings this doesn't suit the lyrics, as if he doesn't understand what he's saying. Also I don't like how Cash uses obvious, easy, emotional ploys to put feeling in the song such as his own impending death and religion. One thing I like more about this version tho is the build up and climax that NINs lacks.
