Derren does not genuinely appear invisible to the student. All that is happening is that the student is playing along with what Derren wants him to do. Stage hypnotists use this technique routinely. Nobody is really hypnotised, it is just a parlour game! The social pressure of the situation and the wish not to let Derren down is what makes the student paly along.

i get the idea of suggestion making the guy unable to see him when he knows its supposed to be him (when he takes off the wrapping and jacket) but wouldnt the guy be able to like...see derren's hand or somthin if he put it into his field of vision outta nowhere? in your mind you would have to still process that it's them and then make them invisible, wouldnt you? so with a belief that someone else could be there, he would still see derren? my scenario would be a different location, obviously

1.20+ He even says the phrase: "You just simply don't see me"before he leaves the room to change. The bandages trigger the belief in his mind that what he has seen before in a film will happen when the jacket comes off i.e. that the body is either naked or the shirt & tie is completely invisible too. This kind of thing is very real & very common. Allbeit that the subject seems extremely susceptable to suggestion, mind manipulation & control. Why do millions buy ipods & still go to church?

Look at the techniques:-A: Holding his handsB: Using a specificly worded scriptC: Staring intently into his eyes manipulating his conscious attention.D: Re-Creating a stereotypical 'Invisible Man' aesthetic & discussing the 'Attack of the dolls' idea to re-inforce the intended roleplay which would seem perfectly common to a film student?E: The use of words Like 'Seeing right the way through them' - 'mind trick/the mind can play tricks' - 'prop' - 'ability to think' -'visually creatively'.

To all the peole who can't get your head around this obvious concept watch it again.1. Find a suitable suggestible person.2. Create a specific suitable scenario & narrative for that person.3. Use auto-suggestion & NLP techniques to plant the suggestions into the mind.He explains the whole process from the start! You only have to look at his face going white & practically feel his mouth going dry to see he is either it's real or he is the greatest physical actor that ever lived!

yeah, the guy has studied psychology/hypnotism for 20 odd years and perfected his techniques, it's quite possible that he uses tricks in some of them (to which he's admitted) but others, hmm (like messiah). tbh the guy scares me a little, not so much him, but other peole who learn how to do it for their own purposes.

Nathanlulu all he is using is psychological powers tricks of the mind, you can think what you like because you have the right to your own opinion, but what he is doing takes skill there is no fake invalved, if you understood how it works and you looked closer into the psychological area you would realise this.
