Great movie, always loved this scene as well.I never saw the remake..I typically hate remakes..and most likely would this one as well. There is/was only one Steve McQueen.

I think this scene of the silent yellow glider flying while Noel Harrison sings this haunting song is one of the most memorable images of film. So mesmorizing. I saw the movie when it came out years ago, and recently got the DVD just for the scene and song.
