Yes actually it was R.kelly who wrote the song. He felt it wouldn't sound right coming from him, he was originally chosen for the movie life soundtrack but felt it would song stronger coming from maxwell.

when i heard this song i just knew this was another hot one from maxwell and the talented people in the sade group. but i was wrong when i heard it was r kelly. i was shocked i'am kinda still there even to this day.

I've been an R Kelly fan since Public announcement. I think he is a very talented writer. But the fact remains that MOST of the lyrics in this song was written by Prince. R changed some of the words and the beat, but the basics of this song is a Prince song. I read it in a music magazine back in 1999. I can't remember the Mag, (I was on an Airplane)
